George S. Tolley, III
George S. Tolley, III graduated magna cum laude from Williams College in 1988, and received his J.D degree from New York University in 1991. Before entering private practice, George served for two years as the law clerk to the Hon. Herbert F. Murray of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
George has litigated complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases in state and federal courts across the country. In recent years, George has focused his practice on the representation of infants who have suffered brachial plexus and related orthopedic and neurologic injuries arising from obstetrical negligence. In addition, George frequently litigates cases involving issues related to delayed cancer diagnosis, emergency room malpractice and wrongful death.
George is licensed to practice law in Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia and has been specially admitted in jurisdictions across the country. George is Vice President of the Maryland Association for Justice and has served as Chair of the Association’s Medical Negligence Section. In addition, George is a member of the American Association for Justice and many specialty and regional bar associations.
George maintains a prestigious “A/V” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, publisher of the definitive directory of America’s leading lawyers. George also has been included annually in Super Lawyers for the State of Maryland.
George has considerable experience in trial and appellate courts, and has been a featured guest speaker at continuing legal education seminars for trial lawyers.
Along with his partners, Henry E. Dugan, Jr. and Bruce J. Babij, George was acknowledged as Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2009 by the Maryland Association for Justice for his representation of a child who suffered brain injuries at birth as a result of obstetrical negligence.
A math major in college, George is intrigued by puzzles of all kinds, and he annually participates in numerous crossword and puzzle competitions. George, his wife — a dog trainer — and their four sons reside in the Annapolis area.
