Alison D. Kohler, President of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association (2005-2006), received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Georgetown University, Magna Cum Laude, in 1981. As an undergraduate, Ms. Kohler attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she received Bachelor of Science degrees in both humanities and chemical engineering.
Ms. Kohler has long fought to protect the legal rights of injured victims through her leadership positions in the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association. Ms. Kohler has been a member of the Board of Directors and Board of Governors of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association since 1998 and she has served as an Officer since 2001.
Ms. Kohler is admitted to practice law in Maryland and has maintained the prestigious "A/V" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, publisher of the Definitive Directory of America's Leading Lawyers. Over her career, Ms. Kohler has recovered millions of dollars for her clients and has been distinguished for her accomplishments as a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Ms. Kohler has litigated complex medical malpractice, personal injury and nursing home litigation cases in both the state and federal courts in Maryland. Complementing her legal practice, Ms. Kohler was a board member of the Maryland Humanities Council from January 1999 - January 2005, and continues to serve on the Grants Committee of the Council. She is a full time wife and mom, active in her church and her children's school.
